Walmart Plus: Walmart giving fierce competition to Amazon Prime with its membership plans

Walmart brings its new membership program which will grant subscribers unlimited free delivery, fuel discounts and no checkout lines.

Walmart's new loyalty program will cost $98 (roughly Rs. 7,200) a year or $12.95 (roughly Rs. 1,000) a month and is expected to give a strong competition to Amazon Prime subscription. Also, the US customers would be able to use this new subscription model from the 15th of September.

If we talk about Amazon Prime, it offers US shoppers features such as streaming video,  fast shipping,  and other related services, and costs about USD 119 a year, roughly amounting to INR. 8,677.  While it would amount to USD 12.99 a month  which will roughly come to about INR 1,000 a month.

"We are a company committed to meeting our customers' needs," said Janey Whiteside, chief customer officer at Walmart. "We've designed this program as the ultimate life hack for them."

Whiteside also said that this service would not only attract new customers, but will also turn existing ones into even more loyal shoppers. Also, subscribed ones will have the access to same-day delivery across more than 160,000 items.  While to qualify, order must be at least USD 35.

Walmart PLus members will not have to go through the pain of waiting in line as all the members can scan their purchases as they shop. Adding to it, members can also significantly save up to almost 37 rupees a gallon across nearly 2,000 Walmart, Murphy USA and Murphy Express fuel stations.

Walmart has also said that it was joining Microsoft in a bid for social media company TikTok's US assets to expand their respective advertising operations.
